Cant delete photos that is NOT in the photo stream

I know I can delete the photos i took in camera roll. Also, I know that I cannot delete photos in photo stream. But I am having trouble deleteing photos in my photos library. Anyone can help me? Thanks a lot.

I was playing around with it last night and took a pic of the ceiling. If you go into your camera roll select the pic and you will see the little trash can in the upper right cornet.

However, I deleted the pic of my ceiling and when I select the camera roll its not there. But when looking at the initial screen where I see all my albums, that pic is sitting on top of the camera roll. So although I deleted it it doesn't seem to REALLY be deleted.
