Its been a literal nightmare since I "upgraded" to 3.1.2. Failed calls, network resetting, not getting texts from the morning until night; WTF was Apple thinking, al was fine with 3.0. Now I know its not the AT&T network because when my phone network resets, so does my bluetooth headset and every thing was pretty reliable before the upgrade. Only reason I upgraded was so I could play with Layar which is something I am seriously regrading.

I tried the adding of IP to the Host file and uploading the software upgrade through iTunes, but it always contacts Apple complains about the signing (no errors, just "up yours, no"). Is there some third party injection software? My ultimate fear is that this has something to do with the new band and thus not even downgrading would fix it. God I am hating Apple. Six months into a 2 year sentence.

If you haven't saved your shsh's thru sauriks server you won't be able to downgrade at the moment.

I think Apple should provide some means for people to downgrade, just for the problems the OP has. Now users are going to have to hold back on any updates in the future, since they won't know what next Apple is pulling.

I should mention that I found turning off 3G and using Edge is right now more reliable. Funny thing about that is on Edge I can't get data and take phone calls at the same time (AT&T v Verizon anyone?). I was googling downgrading and it turns out this is either quite the problem or there is a very vocal minority, including on the Apple Support forum.

I agree.
In their attempt to combat jailbreaking they end up hurting and limiting their users.
