can't download El Capitan

I've read about the problem elsewhere but haven't yet found a suitable solution. Running Yosemite on a 2009 Imac. Keep getting errors when I download from the apple store. Constantly.

What problem? Connection errors? Just go somewhere that has a better connection then you have and download from there instead. (Starbucks, Apple Store, etc.)

I'm not on a wi-fi connection. I'm on broadband cable. Shouldn't be a connection issue.
