Having used Apple's Pages for a while, and liking the more intuitive look way better than the usual Microsoft Word alternatives (Open Office, Libre Office, Only Office etc.) I recently wanted to install it on my wife's Mac as well, only to find that it demands a more recent MacOS.

Now, we both use MacOS 10.14.6 (Mojave), and I assume the problem is due to her probably not having downloaded it from the App Store way back when it was actually available for that MacOS version (or an earlier one). We can't upgrade beyond this (Mojave) for a variety of reasons, so is the solution to borrow someone's Mac running a more current OS, create a new user and log in with her Apple ID where she downloads/installs the current version of Pages (and other apps she wants), then back on her own Mac go to the App store and download Pages (which should come up as "previously purchased") where she'll be told that the current version isn't compatible with her OS, but she can download the latest compatible version?
Will this work, or is there a simpler way?

Thanks!
I'll be sure to make a list of all the software she might need later as well ;)

PS: does it suffice to press the app's "get" button )while in the App store) to start downloading, then break it off, or do I wait until it completely downloads and installs (and maybe even run the app once) before it qualifies as "purchased" and I can delete it from my friend's Mac (with the current MacOS on it)?

I suppose it's also a good idea for my friend to create a new user specifically for this, and when logged in further log into the App store with my wife's Apple ID (as opposed to just have my friend log out from his Apple ID, log into my wife's Apple ID, download the apps in question, log out from her Apple ID, then delete those apps)?

UPDATE: I read through most of the forum thread you linked to and tried the MAS terminal app, but still ran into some problems. I'll write more in that thread about it and there'll hopefully be a solution. Otherwise I suppose it's trying the above on a current Mac.
