Hi, for some reason i cant download files that are hosted on sourceforge i think its called.

heres the link to what i want to download

http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Graphics/Virtue.shtml

i cant download this app and i have no idea why. It just saves as a gif if i right click and save to desktop. If i click on it it just opens a new window that is blank.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is having a problem downloading this file.

Thanks

I can download this file just fine. when you download and select the file you are not just saving the gif file of the server in which the download would come from are you? to download it on the small icon that says sf and is a picture of a hammer, then go to the top and click on the link it should just download automatically.

i dont see the sf part or the hammer?

where are you seeing this?

i cant download it tahts all i know, i click on the links to say download. and it says external mirror 1 if it doenst download automatically and it doenst download. it always ends with .gif for some reason?

Ok, from the page that you posted, click on the big red DOWNLOAD button on the left side of the page. A new page will load in the same window, and go down to the 'DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS FOR Virtue' section, and click on 'Mirror 1'. This will open a new page.

Directly that page is http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtuedesktops/Virtue_05r2.dmg?download

now here is that SF hammer icon on the right under the 'Download' Category, you click on the one you want for whichever mirror you want to use to download the program, it really doesn't matter which. A new page will load and it should download automatically or you can click on the supplied link at the top.

Ok thats really weird, I have no clue as it works perfectly for me. Here is a direct link to the file itself from one of the mirrors.

http://ovh.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/virtuedesktops/Virtue_05r2.dmg

If that still doesn't work, then I'm totally unsure what you can do to correct that.

thank you that worked.

maybe its something in my settings for safari that is blocking it from opening?

Glad it worked, though I'm not sure what you can do to correct this problem, I cant even figure what setting you might have changed that would cause something like this, perhaps its a plugin problem? If you have any plugins installed, you might want to disable them from Safari preferences, then try it. Barring that I dont know, but good luck to you.
