Trying to download Xcode 6.1 from the app store on to my mac book pro (OS X 10.9.5). When the download is nearly complete, I get a message saying "download failed".

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

THANKS!!

Never had this problem. But you get all the time this message and at the same progress? Maybe a silly question, do you have enough space on your drive?

Yes I have lots of space on the computer. I have also tried resetting the app store using the debug menu but so far no luck...

You can probably also download it from developer.apple.com. Log into the iOS web portal and go to Downloads and click the link for 'Looking for an older version of Xcode' It was posted there on Oct 16. Just download the dmg from there and install it.

You might want to scan through the list of tools there so you get an idea of what they post there for download.

Or If you check the app store log files can you find anything useful?

Applications -> Utilities -> Console

Then in the console app chose from the left tree panel:

~/Library/Logs - > if you expand you should see also appstore.log.

Check out what is there maybe post it here who knows we may figure it out.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody. Just succeeded in downloading it after installing Yosemite.
