i know someone else reported this on the forum (about Photos), but thought to start a thread;

if i drag an image from Messages to the desktop, i get the green + sign, but nothing shows up on the desktop; nothing can be dragged from Photos either (i can export an image in Photos).

anyone else?

Ditto, Messages and Photos drag and drop fails. Finder is okay, dragging to a screen share also works.

Beta 10
MacBook Pro 13 2016

One other thing, my Desktop is local.

mine too (local desktop). annoying, but you can export from messages to photos, THEN export from photos to the desktop (or wherever). still, looking forward to fixes...

It was me who complained in beta 1 about this issue. I’m not near a computer can someone report this to apple it’s a huge problem please

It hasn’t worked for me since beta 1. I used always drag images into messages, also beta 9 when I took a screen shot it wouldn’t create a file on my desktop! Beta 10 fixed the screen shot issue but stlll cannot paste images into messages.

we need beta 11 and than GM release

Probably related: I can't download folders/files by dragging them from Transmit to Finder since the last beta.

Installed Big Sur after the public release, and still cannot drag into messages.

I've just dragged a photo from Photos on to the desktop and it was fine.
It might have taken a second or two longer to actually drop, but it did appear.
