hi,

I have recently signed up to Apple Music, so I've turned 'iCloud music library' on on my iPhone. But now I can't drag and drop tracks into my playlists on my phone Via iTunes on my desktop. It keeps coming up saying 'you have iTunes music library turned on etc etc'

Is there any way around this? It's VERY annoying.

The only way I've found is to turn off iCloud music library, drag the tracks I want onto my playlist, then turn the iCloud music library back on.

Thanks for any suggestions

You don't need or can't drag and drop with :apple:Music. Any Playlist/track made on your Mac in iTunes will automatically be synced to your iPhone (and vise versa). All changes made in iTunes will automatically be made on your iPhone (and vise versa again).

Apple Music is a streaming music service. You're supposed to enjoy not being chained to your desktop anymore.

I see what you're saying, but how do i add a track to my device now?

I want to add tracks to my iphone from my mac, but i dont want to stream them. That will use up data, i want to add them actually to the phone, like i used to when i drag and dropped tracks into my iphone in itunes before.
I totally will add tracks to my playlists for streaming, but when it comes to my own tracks that i have on my mac pro, i just want to add them to the device.

Any ideas?

Download your files for offline use! Use the Music app on your phone and download albums or playlists with the cloud button. Make sure you're on wifi

If you want to do a mass transfer, turn off apple music and icloud music library temporarily and sync with iTunes then turn it back on.

I can't seem to add a playlist now in itunes. When i click file, new - playlist, it always puts that new playlist under my connected iphone. Then when i add a track to that it says 'cant add tracks because icloud music library is enabled'

So how do i add a normal playlist in music playlists?

Anyone? How am i meant to drag a track from the finder window, into a playlist in itunes?

I am not turning off my icloud music library just to add a song because each time i do that it has to sync everything again when i re-enable icloud music library, like it says when you go to turn it off - "this will delete your apple music songs and playlists"

iTunes: File: Add To Library

Then you can put it in a Playlist.

Yes but how do i get a track from finder window to a playlist in the first place if everytime i go to do it it says 'cant add to playlist as icloud music library is enabled'

Like i said above, i am not turning off my icloud music library becasue when i do that it deletes my apple music songs and playlists.

Thanks for your idea, but i just tried it and it doesnt work. It adds to the library but i can't add it to a playlist still.

no, i dont think so, just a regular playlist

would a smart playlist make any difference? I might try that.

EDIT - just checked, its a regular playlist
[doublepost=1475521655][/doublepost]ok, wierd thing, it seems ok now, i clicked 'edit playlist' then went to recently added to find my track i just added from finder, dragged it over and hey presto its added it.

PROBLEM - ive gone to do the exact same thing to another playlist and it wont do it now!! this is whats doing my head in!! It now says cant do it because icloud music library is enabled!!

AHHHHHHHH!!!! how can i do it for one playlist and not another. both are regular playlists

UPDATE - so i left it for 1minute - tried again - VOILA - its now done it!!! This is unbeleivable how amateur and bad this thing is.

It would make all the difference in the world since Smart Playlist are automatic and can't be manually changed. To be sure here is what to look for:
Red is Smart
Blue is regular

thanks julien, see my post above, now the tracks are in the playlist in itunes, but they are greyed out on the iphone and cant be played :(

Ok it seems the reason they were greyed out on the iphone was becasue they were uploading to the icloud music library, they are now on the phone and working.

I wonder why at first though, it says you cant add them to this playlist, then if you wait a minute, you can!

Because it won't let you add the track to your playlist until it exists (is uploaded) in your iCloud Music Library.
