I have an Office 365 subscription and use word on my iPad when it's convenient. I just received a word doc from someone today that I tried to open on my iPad. I can open it just fine, but when I try to edit it, I get the following error: 'READ ONLY - You can't edit this file because it is password protected'

But if I open the exact same file using Word 2013 on my Mac, I an edit it just fine.

Any ideas what might be going on with it?

Thanks in advance,
Mark

What's Word 2013? Or do you mean Word 2011 or 2016? Did you check with the originator of the file to see if it was password protected?

Whoops, sorry Office/Word 2016 on my Mac. I have Office 2013 on my work computer & got them mixed up.

One possibility is that document is protected to be edited within a certain domain.
There is a feature allowing author to restrict editing through recognizing the account. If you try to login using the same account on your Mac and/or your working PC on your iPad, you might can edit the file just fine.

I guess PM is a better option, unless you are unable to do so for a reason.

He's ignoring my PM's !
[doublepost=1496409896][/doublepost]I dont think he's too good at replying to PM's in general TBH

Like even when not banned, he seemed to miss them

Thanks for the insight. I'll check that out.

I did. She said it wasn't password protected. I tend to believe her because I was able to open it with no issues on my Mac.

What kind of Office 365 subscription do you have? Apparently some enterprise licenses don't have mobile editing feature included.

Some sharepoint and exchange subscriptions do not include Mobile app access. But I think OP subscription does include.

yes, I can edit documents on word for iPad normally. I bought a 4 year educational package of office 365. Not sure what version but I can normally edit docs in my iPad just fine.
