The eject functionality seems to be completely broken on my system. the button doesn't work, dragging to trash doesn't work, clicking eject in finder doesn't work. None of them give errors or anything. Everything from usb drives to virtual cds to app archives just dont unmount/eject. Has anyone experienced this before?

Restart doesn't fix it, but disk utility does let me eject them. Thanks for the idea.

How do I fix permissions though? Onyx? Or is there a way from DU?

In Disk Utility, click the hard drive on the left, then click Repair Disk Permissions near the bottom.

Did a restart solve the problem or repairing permissions via Disk Utility?

Thanks for the picture, but the written descritpion above was enough :p

Unfortunately, I don't think it has solved the problem. I am also unable to write to flash drives since this started.

This is still a problem for me. I can't write to external USB drives, nor can I write to an external DVD RW I just purchased. I can't mount or unmount anything outside of disk utility, and I think it may have also broken the permissions on my phones SD card, since I am having issues with that as well.
