Can't enable DRM in Sierra - fixes?

Yesterday Channel 4 and ITV channels stopped running and I get the message "enable DRM". But I followed the instructions for both Chrome and Brave and it doesn't work. I run Sierra on a Mac Pro 2012. Is the outdated OS the cause of the problem and do I need a newer Mac to fix it?
