so if you use the calculator widget you can’t exit the calculator without unlocking your damn phone.

The hell is the point then?

Want to turn off WiFi/Bluetooth gotta go to settings. Want to exit calculator gotta unlock the damn phone.

This is garbage.

Does Cook remember Jobs goal was to achieve tasks with as little steps as possible? This guy added steps on top of steps.

Wouldn't your phone be already unlocked to use the calculator? Or are you talking about some third party calculator widget? In which case, aren't you simply on the widgets page when you are using it and can just lock the phone if you are done or swipe to the right to get back to the lock screen?

I have to agree with that statement...in a sense that it should about simplicity and intuitive.

I'm going to disregard the Jobs/Cook nonsense for now.

You can exit calculator by pressing the power/sleep button and putting the phone to sleep. It won't be there when you wake it. What are you pressing instead? The home button? Why would it do anything but... Go home?

I can't really understand why this isn't obvious to be honest.

Because if I want to see my original screen i need to press the slee button then press it again.

If I press the home button then I see my original screen.

Or if I want to go back to widgets I have to swipe up but there is a good chance I’ll hit the 0 or . Button and lose where I was on my calculations.

Then when u unlocked it is closing the calculator app because it is still running for no reason.

I don’t know how u don’t see these obvious things honestly.

PS: in the previous iOS versions they were the way I just stated it should be. Don’t know how u didn’t notice the obvious.

You seem confused.

You made a thread saying you can't edit the calculator widget without being unlocked. There are two possibly the situations: -

1) Your phone is locked and you swipe up to access the calculator widget. You're still locked when you do so if you touch the home button you'll need to authenticate by fingerprint or pass code to access your phone. If you don't want to unlock president the power button to sleep the phone. That is working securely and as designed.

2) if you're already unlocked and access the calculator widget pressing home will return you to wherever you where, app or home. If you want lock it instead press power to sleep and lock the phone.

There are no other options.

I think you are confused. Others understood what I said, you didn’t. I even stated this wasn’t the case in previous versions so it CLEARLY isn’t as u are explaining it to be.

Look. You posted this

so if you use the calculator widget you can’t exit the calculator without unlocking your damn phone.

The hell is the point then?

Want to exit calculator gotta unlock the damn phone

And I explained why that's incorrect. It's as simple as that.

What exactly is the "calculator widget" in your scenario? How are you accessing it? What are you trying to do to "exit" it?

Pull down from the top of the screen to return to the lock screen

Is Control Center accessible on the lock screen in iOS 11?

Yep, by default.

He could be looking at the widget screen to the left, or calculator launched from CC. Either way exiting it without unlocking is trivial.

If he’d just posted a thread asking how to do it I’d have gone out of my way to understand and help him. The bullcrap agression from the off and the classic invoking The Ghost of Steve stuff just gets my back up right away.
