Hi

First, I read through the sticky but couldn't seem to find an answer to my question.

I'm still confused on how iCloud works.
I want my Contacts and my iCal to be in this cloud so it can be synchronized with my iPod Touch.
So in Lion in System Preferences I have checked Contacts and iCal.
Then I go to my iPod and set up an iCloud account. It downloads the Contacts and iCal and I can see it as it is on my computer. So far so good.

But then when I add an activity on the calendar on my Macbook, it doesn't update on my iPod Touch.

What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you are doing everything right. Here is what I do when I have a problem (which is very rare). I login to www.icloud.com and verify that it has everything there. What happens when you change something on a device, it updates iCloud "first" then it will SYNC with all of the other devices. If iCloud is correct then you can always go into settings on your iOS Device and UNCHECK either or both the Calendar or Contacts then it will ask if you want to DELETE ALL ENTRIES on the device and then check it again and it will reload. BUT be very careful to verify that www.icloud.com is accurate.

Thanks for your help!

I added an activity to iCal a few hours ago, went to www.icloud.com and it still isn't updated. I thought this was done automatically every time you add something? Or do I have to uncheck and recheck "Calendars" in iCloud in System Preferences every time I add a new activity?

Of course if you do not see it on www.icloud.com it will never get to your iOS Devices. When you added it to your Mac iCal are you sure you added it to the "iCloud Calendar" and NOT the "On my Mac" Calendar, you can have BOTH. It has to be the iCloud Calendar (same for Contacts).

That was the problem, I was putting everything on the "On My Mac" calendar. Had no idea there was another one...

Thanks man!
