My friend backed up all my music on his harddrive in his PC. Is there anyway he can send me files wirelessly over the network in his house???

Yeah all the data is on my buddies harddrive on his PC. He's connected though a D-link router....and I'm on my mac and would like to somehow do a transfer from his to mine

Go to system preferences > networking > advanced; then under WINS, give your mac the same workgroup name as the PC. As long as you are on the same subnet, you should be able to connect to his shared folders (in the finder). All he needs to do is make sure a copy of the files are in the shared folders so you can see them.

So make sure they're both connected to the same network. Then, go to (on your Mac) System Preferences and then to Sharing. Under "Services" click file sharing. Near the lower right hand corner, there is a button that says "Options". Click it and then the checkbox next to Windows File Sharing. Next, enable Windows sharing for your account by clicking the checkbox next to it's name and then typing in your password.

After a few moments, open up "My Network Connections" on your buddy's PC and click "View Entire Network" on the left hand side. Double click "Microsoft Windows Network" and then "Workgroup". Your
MacBook should be listed. Double click on it's icon and type your username and password. Either open Macintosh HD or the folder called "yourusername". Your buddy can now drang and drop your music ibtorhis folder.

--------------

On the other hand, it's probably easier to just attach his external drive to your MacBook and drag and drop the filed off of it.

Either/Or. I have used both with my Macbook and a Windows Network.
Make sure the files are shared.
