My iMac fusion drive died and i have decided to only transfer the things i need onto new hd.

I cant find my fonts in my time machine back ups. its the user fonts like the ones i downloaded taht i cant find, i can see the general system fonts

the two places i have looked in the back ups are

Macintosh HD > Library > Fonts ( this just displays system fonts i believe or like 90% of my fonts are missing)

Macintosh HD > System > Library > Fonts (even less fonts displayed ones that just came with the computer again)

Hi Rosie,

they should be here :

Macintosh HD > Users > your_account > Library > Fonts

1. in Finder, "Go" menu, press the Alt key, select Library (this is the user's Library)

2. enter Time Machine interface : you will be in your user's Library and will be able to access the Fonts folder

3. select the Fonts folder and click "Restore", or select the fonts you wish to restore and click the restore button.

Edit : since you changed the hard drive, you might need to right-click/"restore to" rather than clicking the large Restore button.

Again :

in Finder, in the menu bar, click on the "Go" menu, press the Alt key, select "Library" (this is the user's Library)

(the user's Library is hidden by default, pressing the Alt key in the "Go" menu unveils it)

Then, enter Time Machine interface.

Once in Time Machine interface, you need do select a backup at a date before you replaced the hard drive.

I suppose the Fonts folder is empty because right now you are seeing the "Today (Now)" page. Go back in time.

You edited your last post, so I guess it worked.

You must restore the fonts to the same place on the new hard drive :

Macintosh HD > Users > your_account > Library > Fonts

First restore them to the desktop, then use "Go" + Alt again and move them to : ~/Library/Fonts.

~/Library means user's Library.
