Dell 27" Ultrasharp 1440p Monitor

Trying to get boot screen AND 1440p resolution.
Figured out I can only get boot screen by going into monitors HDMI port, not DP ports.
So I have 3 ways of doing that on hand now...

A cheap Mini DP to HDMI adapter - Boot screen but locked at 1080p
An expensive 4k 60hz Mini DP to HDMI adapter - No boot screen but gives 1440p
A 4k 30hz Mini DP to HDMI cable - No boot screen and locked at 1080p

Right now I have both the adapter plugged in to the 2 Mini DP ports and just switch the HDMI cable when needed, but it'd be nice to figure out why 2 of these solutions wont let me get 1440p res. A google search turned up several solutions that I tried. Hopefully someone here has an idea.
Thanks!

Which exact monitor you are using?

5770 definitely able to shows boot screen and 1440P at the same time.

It's the default graphic card for the 5,1, and designed to use with the 27" Apple Cinema Display which is exactly with 1440P resolution.

If your monitor has DP 1.2, try disable that.

Im aware it can do both and Im aware its the default card.

Ill check on the DP1.2 in the morning, thanks!

It may be that DP 1.4 creating problem. Try disable it, and make the monitor run at DP 1.1

Im gonna try that this morning, but wondering, how would that be affecting the HDMI port not working right?

Many Dell Ultrasharps with HDMI 1.4 and earlier ports treat that port as a "video" port and it is limited to 1080. I know it doesn't make sense, but that's the way it is. I didn't look up your specific model, but almost certainly this is the case.

Assuming your monitor is like that, if you want 1440P you're going to have to use the DisplayPort connection on the Dell. Use a quality MDP to DP cable without adapters and change the DP version setting as @h9826790 already mentioned.

MST in the monitor is already OFF. There are no other DP 1.2+ settings listed.
