I have a mac mini and my original display ( an AOC ) worked and then started going bad. I purchased a emachines vga display from bestbuy and it worked great until a couple days ago. Now I get nothing, absolutely nothing. The mac powers up and I hear the chime and fans working, but no picture. I am using the vga adapter from apple and right now, I am at wits, education, basic computer knowledge and patience end. If anyone can help, please help!

I assume you've gotten the basics out of the way. That is, do you have another computer you could connect this display to to ensure that the display works? Do you have another computer you could connect to the Mac mini to ensure that the mini works? Do you have another VGA cable you could use to ensure that the cable is not defective?

Also, does the display power on at all? Does it say "no signal" or something similar and then turn itself off?

Have you recently connected the Mac mini to another display with a different resolution? It could be that the Mac mini is using a resolution not supported by your display. (I've had this problem before.)

mac mini video issues

I got frustrated and contacted apple. To my surprise, it was still under warranty, so I took it in today. And yes, I did connect the old monitor, but still no video. The only accessorie that wasn't apple was the vga cables and the emachine monitors.
