can't get docs to open with version i want.

I'm running OS 10.4.2.

I have Office X and a trial version of Office 2004 that came with my computer. I want my docs to open in office x, but when I select "change all" in the "get info" dialogue box, it changes everything back to office 2004.

same thing with every app where I have multiple versions ... like vectorworks, illustrator, photoshop, etc... I can change individual files to open with specific versions, but all apps default to the most recent version.

is there any other solution besides deleting the most recent version (like i did with the trial version of illustrator CS)?

any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

In the get info window, scroll down to "details" and make sure it's unlocked.

Definitely follow yenko's advice.

I thought Office X told you to get rid of any trial versions of Office from the computer before installation though. Maybe get rid of the 2004 trial all the same, especially if you're not using it.

thanks- i deleted the trial version of office 2004...

i've just deleted the new trial versions and since I only open vectorworks 9 files occassionally, it's not a huge issue. i just wish it wouldn't default to the newer version if i didn't want it to.

the files aren't locked, btw.
