Cant get DVD to burn??

I am trying to burn Beavis and Butthead onto a DVD R that is 4.7 GB maxell is the company. so I had it on quicktime already and opened up the program burn and converted it to DVD. But when I insert my blank it says there is not enough room but the file itself is only 4.4 GB. When I try to create a burn file and burn it it says the disc is uncompatible??? Can anyone help me

actual dvd capacity is 4.38 Gibibyte (Single layer)

i found this out trying to burn a backup of Rainbow Six Vegas.
