Alright, I have three apple devices on iCloud (ok, technically four but one is getting sold/traded off as I just upgraded my iPhone). A rMBP (2014) running the latest Mac OS (just installed it yesterday), an iPhone 6 running the latest OS (just installed that a few minutes ago), and an iPad 2 running on some version of iOS6 (for the stuff I use it for I really don't need it on the latest OS and it's so old I'm afraid of it running like crap. I may one day upgrade it to iOS7 but since I tend to slack on upgrading unless I see a reason I may not).

I can't seem to get handoff to work at all between my 6 and the mac (I have iCloud turned on on both and handoff enabled). I can't get the extra doc I was reading to show up on my mac (and i haven't even tried to see if it will work on my iPhone).

Also, when I open a finder window and click on the iCloud folder on my mac, nothing happens (it stays on whatever folder it was on before). I can't even dray files on it cause it doesn't seem to think it is a folder or can open. This is in column view on the finder. If I "right click" on it and tell it to open in a new tab, that seems to work and then I can drag files into that window.

Do I have to upgrade my ipad (and also either upgrade or get rid of the old iPhone 5 that is on iOS7) to get it to work properly (I'm wondering if those being around is confusing my iPhone 6/Mac)? And if so, can I just turn off iCloud on the iPad instead? I only use it for internet browsing while watching tv and watching netflix while I do the dishes.

As far as Finder not allowing you to click on the iCloud Drive option in the sidebar, I discovered that opening Terminal and doing a "killall Finder" and relaunching it (or rebooting the system) fixes that issue.

As far as getting Handoff to work, I had some issues with it in the beginning. My trick, and your mileage may vary, was to go into Account Settings under iCloud on ALL of my devices (OS X and iOS) and make some change...even if it was deleting a letter from my name and then adding it back....something to make the Save button an option. After that it seemed to magically just pop up for me.

Again, I might have just gotten lucky, or it was coincidental that it seemed to work when I thought I did something. Let me know if it works for you though, so I can feel all warm inside and stuff.

Your trick for the icloud folder worked like a charm.

Unfortunately the other trick did not work for me or maybe it kinda worked (though admittedly I hadn't checked to see if I could get from my mac to my iphone). I can get handoff to work going from my mac to my iphone but I can't get the doc it says I should be able to get going from my iphone to my mac (I was reading an article on how to set it up and it said there should be a seperate dock? And if not, what am I looking for?).

Should break itself into a new branch on the far left of the dock. Try rebooting iOS device?

Ooooooh... I see how it works now. I was expecting a seperate dock (the thing I was reading had a screenshot and it looked to have a seperate dock). It doesn't help that I put my dock on the side rather than bottom as well.

So yeah, it's working. Thank you :).
