Hi.

I just started the Bootcamp installation, and when partioning the drive, it said it couldn't because their was a disc error on my Macbook.

So, I go to Disk Utility, and after verifying the disc, I'm told the "Volume Header needs minor repair." So, I type in my password, and I get an error:

"Disk Utility stopped verifying “Matt's HDD” because the following error was encountered:

The underlying task reported failure on exit"

So, I obviously can't go on with Bootcamp. Any suggestions?

My log:

Verifying volume “Matt's HDD”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.

You have to boot from your Mac OS X startup disk and then run the disk utility to repair the hard drive when this situation happens. I had it happen on my MBP when I had to reinstall XP. That should help.

I got two discs. So, I put in the first one, boot while holding "D", and then go back to the OS to run Disk Utility? Or do I use the second disc?

Sorry, I'm just a bit confused after trying a few different things. Thanks.

Im a switcher, and I'm at working, so I'm attempting to help you from memory here. But yes, I think holding down "D" boots from the disk, and THEN run disk utility from that booted disk. Disk utility cannot operate on a hard drive it is currently working from, that's why it wont work if you try to run it while still in your copy of OS X.

Ah, I see. I figured it out, ran the Utility, and the volume was repaired! Thanks, I really appreciate it!

However, now when I run the bootcamp assistant, it says some files cannot be moved. Are there any particular files I should be looking for, or do I need to do what it says, and restore the drive... UGh...
