I used my SR MacBook Pro for the first time at the college where I work. For some reason, while I had no problem surfing the web, I was not able to receive mail. I already set up Mail with the correct SMTP server for wireless, but why would I not be able to connect to any of the different POP servers that I use (none of which were down today)? I have successfully sent and received mail on other wireless networks.

I tried Earthlink customer service. Of course, useless.

A lot of colleges block the email ports for various reasons. You might need to talk to an IT guy about getting a customised a PAC file or some email port settings. It's probably best not to mention you have a Mac 'cause a lot of IT drones freeze up when they hear that.

That's interesting about the ports, I wasn't aware of that. Makes sense though since it works everywhere else. I'll definitely go to IT, but at least I can get webmail if all else fails. Thank you, mad jew. (Are you a member of my family?)
