Hello all. I'm using the iphone 6s plus with the latest build of iOS. My contacts, calendars, notes, safari etc are all backed up to my icloud account. I added a CardDAV account for contacts syncing with my gmail credentials with no problem. However, I dont see the contacts synced to google. Anybody knows what I'm doing wrong or is this a bug?

Thanks in advance for any help you are able to provide.

You need to decide where your contacts go. Either iCloud or Google.

If you set iCloud for contacts then any new contact you add will go to iCloud and not Google, unless you designate it to be your Google Contacts in settings, either by turning contacts off in iCloud or selecting Google as your default for contacts.

I thought you could do both. By default I have everything going to iCloud. Was hoping adding a google CardDAV account would sync all the contacts to gmail contacts :|

How do you merge existing contacts from Google and Yahoo to iCloud then?
If it were me, I would export my contacts from both services then use icloud.com to draw them in. That would end up pushing them to the devices you have set up to use iCloud contacts.

Way back when iCloud was new I had my contacts in there. I found out at that time though that iCloud was one way. It would let you enter new contacts on the device but it would not push them to other devices. So I abandoned iCloud for Google Contacts.

Since Google Contacts works on just about any device it's been a very convenient thing for me. iCloud may have changed at some point but it's irrelevent to me now.
