I’m on IUP. This “get ready” wants to change me from IUP to a 0% deal - is that correct?

I’m ok to stay on IUP but seems no option currently.

Can I tomorrow, go back on app and the option will be there to pick an iPhone (hopefully!) and reserve in store to swap iPhone and start IUP?

Why can’t IUP use the “get ready” ? Anyone in this situation the same? What are you doing?

So will I be back of queue as have to go through more steps?

I’m trying myself and I can choose the model and apple care and so on, the next step is accessories but it shows me a pop up with "we've made some changes to the items in your bag to match availability"
And won’t go further. 🙁

Spoke to a specialist via chat. He said there is too much "bag traffic" at the moment with too many people making selections/using the get ready pre-order system. It should be available again later today or tomorrow morning.

It’s never been available, at least not for me in UK. The only option was to change my IUP and use the credit (which wouldn’t cover the final IUP payments) to go to a 0% though.

I’m pretty sure last year there was option of the IUP straight away on the store app, and reserve your iPhone in store at a time to swap/pickup new one.

So hopefully, it’ll just appear tomorrow when going through the procedure. All it says at moment is to visit the Apple store.

It works on the website but not the app at the moment.

I haven't used IUP myself. The 'Get Ready' option was available for standard orders yesterday but isn't available at the moment.

Checked the website and just says “from 17th 1pm you’ll be able to make a reservation online to upgrade at the Apple store”

So I presume can reserve online a new IUP and do the swap

Not in the UK unfortunately. In fact, last year I dropped the IUP in favour of buying outright because its such a headache. I signed up thinking annual renewals would be similar to the US version once you're in the programme, but its completely different.

Instead you have to book an in-store appointment around launch when its crazy busy, wait while they check your phone, then wait while they contact Barclays to cancel your existing contract. Finally, they sign you back up as a brand new contract and do another full credit search. As soon as he mentioned that last bit, I cancelled and bought then phone instead.

Its far too much hassle just to upgrade, and a phone isn't worth having an additional credit search on your report every year. Oh, and there are numerous reports of people signing up fine, but then having their renewal declined because of a problem with Barclay's system.

Agree it’s a pain in store, I’d be happy to miss that! Why isn’t it like the US, apparently they can send in their trade in iPhone through post after getting the new one as well.

Not use if it’s a hard credit check or not, without getting a credit report would we be able to tell? May sign up for a free month to see if it does?

What do you do if your on 0% then, just pay up finance and trade into Apple? I have to say the convenience of basically swapping iPhone’s is good without messing about with other trade ins.

If I go on app, it allows me to use my current IUP to pre-pre order/get ready, but they are only giving £375 trade in.

So with still having 9 payments left I’m out of pocket even more to join 0%, the IUP hand it back and start again.

Yeah, there's absolutely no postal option like the US. That surprised me last year - Apple should give the UK IUP system a different name, because I didn't realise the info I was reading doesn't apply to us.

The initial signup was a hard credit check because it popped up on the monthly report I get. When I went to renew last year, I asked the employee handling IUP if it would show up again and he said its the exact same process, so probably. I just checked the UK upgrade T&C's, and yeah, in the FAQ Apple states its a credit check each time. Such a poorly thought out process, can't think of anything else like that.

RE: 0%/out of pocket - yeah, if you want to breakaway but still upgrade, you're going to be at the mercy of current trade-in values. But you can trade in a IUP/0% phone and still make payments on it. That's what I did with my IUP 11 Pro when I bought my 12 Pro cash. The trade-in value was a little bit less than the 9 payments remaining, but it was worth it to drop the programme.

Unless you really need it, 0% finance on such a small purchase just isn't worth all these hoops and credit impact IMO.

Wandering again now….

It says on “get ready” that I can use my IUP to go to 0% with a £375 trade I. That will be used against my loan, the IUP.

However is this not just the 9 payments of the loan/IUP left minus the AC+ as wouldn’t be using?

So IUP is £46.45, have to have 9 left so £418.05. However some of that, £7.45 I think, is AC+. So is it not just 9 x £39 = £351 left of loan, so actually the £375 trade in is more than I owe?

Hard to check without clicking through and maybe signing up. Anyone went from IUP to 0% on the “get ready” in UK can screenshot or tell me what says please
