Can't get screenshots?

Hey, for some reason I can't take screenshots.. (CMD + CTRL + 3 or 4)

Neither one works. 4 does show the cross hairs though, and I can select the area I want to take a pic of. It just doesn't work

That's because you have to press CMD SHIFT 3 or 4. If you hold down CTRL as well, it will copy the screenshot to the clipboard but not produce a picture file.
