I noticed two days ago that I had a graphics (and other) update in the App Store waiting, but as it required a restart, I was waiting until some processes had completed. Now when I wanted to install it, it was gone! I tried refreshing, etc. but nope, it's gone. I went to the update here (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1609) and I can't download it manually either!? What gives? Did I forever lose out on a chance to get this update? Or did they pull it for some reason?

It might have already installed. Check your system profiler to see.

Click Apple logo top left, hit about this mac, then hit more info, then hit system report. Under the first heading, just select hardware (should auto open to it).

If your:

Boot ROM Version: MBP101.00EE.B02
SMC Version (system): 2.3f32

Is that, then you already have newest EFI.

If not, here are the manual downloads:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1591 - EFI
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1559 - SMC

Heres the chart where I got them from: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
