Trying to connect new 20" imac to HT system. *Checked the cables I'm using on other HT components and they work fine. *Have DTV, DVD and iMac connected to switchbox running to projector. *DTV and DVD work fine (as does audio from itunes). *Problem is that I get no video signal out from iMac. *I been told to "force video out" by selecting mirror display but it won't even give me that option under arrangement if there is not a second display detected. *I've got the mini display to component adapter from apple. everthing else going to switch box is component also. *I've tried turning on the pj before and after mac boot-up and before and after starting different videos. I've also tried bypassing the switchbox and running directly to pj. *Still, nothing. *Any ideas. *I'm new to the mac world. *Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

In case it matters, I've tried connecting to an Optoma EP749 and a Viewsonic Cine1000 with the same results. Curious if a "DVI-Detector" would solve the problem or if it would be required since I'm using a switchbox for all video to the pj?

Not sure why it isn't working, I would try to run mini to DVI and then convert DVI into HDMI or VGA for the projector, to see if that works.

Pj has DVI port.....if that is the answer then so be it....only problem now is I don't have a 100' DVI cable or mini to DVI converter. This same setup worked fine with my PC. It did have a high end Graphics Card though. At this point I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware or software issue. Wish I could manually force video out but I can't seem to even find the option until the imac detects something is connected.

The problem might be the cable is too long? If you are running a 100' component cable off of the adapter there might not be enough signal coming from the video card to lock onto the signal.

Is there anyway to test it with a shorter cable?
