There were a few people here on this forum alone who mentioned they ordered two, one for themselves and one for resale (claiming the second one will make them some extra cash and help pay for the other), and of course eBay shows a few charging over MSRP.

But you go to Apple directly and can order one for pickup today in most parts of the country.

Nice to see scalpers finally getting the short end of the stick.

That would be a really bad move. Scalpers got burnt. But there’s a few out there.

I saw a couple members in the preorder thread in the front page news forum suggesting they bought one for resale in hopes of making some money. So, yeah I guess technically... the internet has decided what the word "scalper" means in 2021 and I am using it in that reference.

I've tried being a scalper, but it is too risky and I haven't managed to make any large profits. I learned the scalper's largest pain is belief of culpability, which is reliably accompanied by a displeasing emotional response.

Tbf, there is a iPad Pro demand out there for “scalpers” to seek after. But trying to sell anything other than 1/2TB cellular model (maybe only WiFi)… they won’t get any action.

Yeah, my Day 1 delivery pre-order of the new 12.9" was listed on there. I ordered it for myself but then when I saw the scarcity of supply I decided if I could make a few hundred bucks (and have to wait another few weeks for my own device) then I'd take that deal...

Three people (well I think it was one buyer with three accounts) tried to scam me by 'buying' the item at the Buy It Now price and then sending fake payment confirmation. Crazy.

That's why I hate selling my old devices on eBay, too many scammers out there wasting my time.

Oh, yeah.. you could make a few hundred bucks with that model. I’m still waiting on my 4.30 preorder of 1TB 5G 12.9 model and now Best Buy has them sold out completely.

The whining / irony is strong in this one. Scalper has been a common term ever since the GPU shortage fiasco and before, lmao. Anyway, they shall earn what they deserve. Can't stand such people. But regular consumers are also at fault partly if they always need the newest product/version ASAP, rather than just wait a few more months.

Yup, its pretty funny seeing then try to sell iPads for £2k when you can goto Argos/Currys etc and pick one up for retail price. Hope they get stuck with them, pmsl.

I only have two because Best Buy did not ship mine until last Friday evening - prior to the shipping notice I was in the dark on when it would be mailed out. Rather than risking it, I ended up grabbing one from my local apple store earlier on launch morning.

So now I have a Space Grey 1TB 12.9 WiFi only model sealed. I wont sell it however, I plan to just return it to Best Buy and let them know it came too late and that I grabbed one direct for apple. Someone will be happy once it gets returned to their inventory

Side note of interest: when the Best Buy Order came it looks like it was drop shipped direct from apple as the box it came in was the usual one that these devices come in when shipped direct. Brown outer box with apple labels, sku, etc.. inside pull tabs to remove the retail box.

I went to a concert where they were checking the names on the tickets with people's IDs. So many people were so pissed. Loved it...

I have been cheated out of tickets so many times, after waiting overnight on a few occasions. Nice to see scalpers, and their customers, get spanked. Sure, I've bought some scalped tickets in the past. Once, front row center for Sting! But so many shows sell out around here. In college, a Kinks show sold out (I know, right). The Kinks? Okay... Jimmy Buffett usually sold out in minutes.

I'm sure tons of gray HomePods were bought to end up on ebay, and people will buy them too. Not me. (Someone was selling a whole case of Disney Star Wars Thermal Detonator Diet Coke bottles, FULL/unopened. $399! Still cheaper then going there, but still...)
