guys - my iPhone 7 has the latest software i.e. 15.8.1 and connected to Mac mini M2 Sonoma latest version 14.3. I also did reset privacy settings and when I connect my phone, my photos do show up on Photos but after clicking Import all new items, it doesn't do anything - I let it run overnight and not a single pic imported. It simply opens the Imports tab but nothing new comes up. There was a thread on apple community suggesting turning off personal hotspot, turning on airplane mode and I've done both of those

Thanks

Check if there is a software update needed to connect your iPhone by opening /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/Resources/MobileDeviceUpdater.app with your iPhone connected.

Apple Support - If your Mac says that a software update is required to connect to iPhone or iPad

Or install the current pkg files needed

Opening MobileDeviceUpdater.app didn't do anything (no other window opened up) so I installed the two pkg files, tried again but no luck

Still not working. I can select a few pictures at a time and it goes through but not if I select a bunch of them. Is there any other software like Image capture I should try to import and then move from there into Photos? I'm wondering if there's one possibly culprit pic or video that's stopping the whole process. It's 8000 photos & videos combined so maybe I could do 100 at a time and when the process has a hiccup, I would have identified the culprit photo but this would be really laborious to say the least. I also have 3 more family iPhones to get through with many more pictures

That didn't work either. I'm at a loss here. Any other options I should try to manually import the actual files into my Mac and then import into Photos? Is this a common issue or only one with older phones? Will the Apple's limited warranty be able to help take control of my computer or will a Genius Bar able to transfer possibly to my MacBook Air and then I can move to my mini? Do they have any special tools to use? Thanks

Image capture transferred roughly 3000 pics but there are 5000 still pending. Currently it's stuck at Importing EHASE9090.JPG for the last 1 hour so I'm going to terminate. I'm going to check the option Delete after Import and then import whatever is possible and when it gets stuck at a picture, I would like to delete if from the phone. But on searching photos app for this file name, I can't find it. Any ideas and would this be the right approach?

Any other suggestions here? If not, I'm going to go out and buy a cheap windows laptop and use the 3rd party program I used a few years ago that worked well to copy all the pictures. Then copy from there over the network to my Mac mini and then into photos. Thank you Apple!

Has Sonoma 14.3.1 solved your problem?

You can install Windows in a virtual machine on your Mac mini M2 and copy-paste the images directly from Explorer
