Can't install Safari update 2.0.1 with OSX 10.4.6?

Hi people... i met this problem just a min ago and would like to seek some help here.... Can't install Safari update 2.0.1 with OSX 10.4.6? when they only required 10.4.2 and I certainly have more than enough space for installation.... can anyone pls gimme some guideline here?

Check your About Safari... The current version of Safari is 2.0.3 (417.9.3). The reason the updater for 2.0.1 won't work for you is that it is an older version of Safari than the one in 10.4.6. Why do you want that version, anyway?

i cannot access certain page and i guess i need to have a newer version or something... it is a hassle for me to switch browser when i'm doing my stuff... hence the reason to update.... how do you check the version? sorry kinda lost...

Go to About Safari in the Safari menu.

If you're going to a webpage, and it tells you that you need a newer version, it's probably a webpage that either has some true incompatibility with Safari or just was limited to the browsers it was tested on.

Two options:

1) Get Firefox/Camino/whatever. I know you said you didn't want to do that.

2) Activate the debug menu (option 1, option 2 a few posts down, and option 3) in Safari. In this menu is a User Agent option -- if you select another user agent (Windows IE 6.0 or Netscape 7.0 are usually the ones to try) then some websites will work on Safari (but others still won't).

EDIT: Two clarifications -- what it means to select a "User Agent" is that Safari will pretend to be the browser in question if a website asks it what browser it is. That's all this feature does -- it doesn't change anything about how Safari handles what it gets back. Second thing is that I used option 2 to get a debug menu, FWIW.
