Hi all,

I'm new to this forums...

I've an iPhone (officially Unlocked) 3Gs 32GB with the 3.1.2 out of the box. It's working just fine. I tried to jailbreak it MANY MANY times with no luck..

I tried blackra1n and i tried the PWnage (custome firmware) also with no luck.. After any of the both methods, I ALWAYS get the (Connect to iTunes) logo at the startup. And I have to restore the iPhone again. If i use the iTunes official restore, it will work... If i use the (shift + Restore), it will work ONLY if i use the original file from Apple. If i use the custom file, it always give me an (unknown error).

I tried MAC and Windows and more than one PC... Same problems at all.. If the iPhone restored with the official file, not a single problem at all and I can't ask for repair/replacment...

Any advice??

Thanks in advanced... :)

It sounds like you have two issues:

1) You are trying to install custom firmware on an unpwned phone. You will need to have your phone plugged into the computer when you create your firmware, then at the end tell PT that your phone has never been pwned and follow the instructions. This will prepare your phone to accept a custom firmware.

2) Blackra1n is not working for some reason. You didn't give enough details for me to figure out why. What exactly happens when you run blackra1n on your 3GS?

I have the exact same problem as EZname, only got my iPhone 3Gs the other day and couldn't jailbreak it. Then I read somewhere that there are problems jailbreaking iPhone 3GS' that have a "MC" model number.

Is there anyway around this? I miss having themes on my iPhone :(

OK thanks guys, just read all about the whole new bootroom thing. Just hope someone can get a working jailbreak out for it soon. Fingers crossed!

Dont expect an untethered JB from Geohot anytime soon.

why is that. I was hoping this issue wouldn't be a long drawn out thing. Not the end of the world but i get nervious if i'm not by my comp when i have only %20 batt left. If i do lose power then my phone is worthless till i reboot with blackra1n. Brand new to this jailbreak thing but it would be hard to go back to the normal OS for sure!!!

I am looking to Jailbreak my 3GS 32 GB White iPhone it has a model number that starts MB, so I assume this one can be Jailbroken without tethering correct.

Geohot's words (from Twitter):

"sick of the iphone and the dumb emails and tweets i get because people don't read, haven't worked on it in a month now and don't plan to"

"this is why i never made easy to use stuff before, you make something idiot proof and the world invents better idiots"

Judging from these two tweets alone, I'm kinda doubting we'll see any advancement on an untethered jailbreak anytime soon (from him anyway).

thanks for the replies...

From what I understand, I'm "stuck" right now... Am i correct??

BTY, the week built for the iPhone is 47 and the I couldn't get the iBoot from system profiler with DFU..

So, I just have to wait (I guess) :(

You can jailbreak the phone today, but it will be a tethered jailbreak !

An un-tethered JB for you phone may or may not happen. Time will tell.
