iPod touch Cant Jailbreak iTouch 2G on 4.2.1

Was given an old iTouch MC model on 4.2.1 and trying to jailbreak it but to no avail. I have tried GreenPois0n and Snowbreeze. Greenpois0n always fails and snow breeze doesn't recognize DFU mode. The only successful time I've gotten the iPod into DFU was when I had iTunes open by itself. Any help? Any download links?

Greenpois0n should work. Works on my MC model iPod touch. Does your PC recognize your iPod in dfu mode without the jailbreak?

When trying to go into DFU mode on my Mac while following the greenpoison prompts it does not recognize or go into DFU mode. Some times greenpoison crashes as well. Do I need to have iTunes open while running greenpoison? Also I have VMWare on my Mac and when in windows I try to go into DFU mode it recognizes it and says something like DFU mode recognized would you like to connect to windows or Mac. I have tried running greenpoison with the I touch already in DFU mode as well.
