Can't log into old iOS 6 device because of two factor??

Thanks to my account randomly telling me it was locked and needed to be reset, I had to log back into all my devices after making a new Apple ID password. Problem now with my old iPod 4th gen on iOS 6, it won't let me log into iCloud. It keeps telling me I need to input the 6 digit passcode for two factor but never get the prompt. Does this mean I can't log into it now because I'm using two factor and now that I logged out, I'm screwed?

You know what, you're right. I remember the iPad saying that but its instructions led me to believe there was gonna be a place to input the numbers after the password, not at the end of it. Their explanation needs to be better in the pop up windows. This makes sense now and will probably work!

This looks so much different that what I have. Just looking at it, I only get 4 digits to verify and not 6. I also can't "Get a code from Settings on your trusted device". Is this a new way? I set up 2 step verification with it 1st came out.

You have two step verification. That has been superseded by two factor authentication.

Yes, at least I did in order to activate it. And it took a few days after deactivating 2 step verification for 2 factor showed up. Your account will tell you how long you have to wait before more changes can be made. And if it isn't available properly, like my wife's account was after shutting off 2 step verification, I had to call apple support for them to reset her security for it to show up.
