Can't Manual Transfer Songs w/ iCloud Music On?

Just wanted to make sure what I'm experiencing normal.

So to be able to sync across all devices your Apple Music, IE. you save to "my music" on my phone and want it to also come up when you use Apple Music on an iPad or Comp, you need to check iCloud Music on. Issue is, if you check iCloud Music on, then you lose the ability to manually transfer over songs from Comp to Phone/iPad. It will tell you that "iCloud Music has to be disabled."

So my question is, if you're an old school guy and like to transfer over music manually, then the only option you have is to have a separate my music library than your other iOS devices that have iCloud Music enabled. Is that right?

You either use iCloud Music Library 100% or you don't use it at all. If you use it, you can't sync directly between devices, but, the cloud sync deals with this automatically. If you do not use it, you can sync directly just fine. What you will lose, though, is the ability to take music from Apple Music service and add it into your own library. You can play it directly from existing playlists or from the various views over artist content, but, you can never use it in your own playlists or have it part of your shuffle all music, etc.

Choice is yours.

Personally, I'm fine with iCloud Music Library minus two points: 1) I have about 20 files it won't accept for no apparent reason and so I can't get them on my iPhone; 2) There is no actual working way to get everything to automatically become available offline on the phone. If I put everything in one playlist (which is harder than it sounds because you can not sync a playlist that contains content that can't be retrieved from your iCloud Music Library, though it should be smarter about this...) and then try to tell the phone to make it available offline, it never actually does it. It just fails and sometimes crashes. I suspect it can't handle this command on a playlist with 8k entries or something.

So, those two things have me a little vexed right now. I am trying to live with iCloud Music Library as I like its benefits, but, these problems are actually quite irritating and experience breaking for me, so I'm torn at the moment.

Apple Music is uploading the studio versions of songs they have in place of the Live albums (which are not available in the iTunes Store) in my collection and I have no idea how to override this or fix it. I have artwork and everything titled properly in my iTunes library and this Live album thing is a dealbreaker if it can't be addressed.

Has anyone else experienced this or know a fix?

I had the same problem. For stuff i want thats not on iTunes or Apple Music, I changed the Artist metadata outside of iTunes and readded it to iTunes, it then failed to match to anything and uploaded my local file. This is the only workaround i've found at the moment. I tried adding suffixes to track titles but that didn't work. Changing the artist is the only way so far. For example, for an Adele live album I have, i changed the artist to 'Adele - Live'

Wow that is so painstakingly bad. At this point I'm just gonna let the trial run out and stick with Google Music and their direct uploaded. I like Apple Music but to have to workaround stuff like this is kinda pathetic.

Thanks for the tip though. Finally have an idea what to do if I chose to do undertake it.
