I have a 2019 27” iMac. This replaced a 2009 iMac. On the old iMac my external HD mounted thru the USB 2.0 ports. It is a Seagate USB 3.0 8TB drive. On the new Mac it will only mount through a USB 2 hub.
ive run disk utility and no errors.
At times disk utility won’t be able to unmount the drive.
it connects to the drive using a Micro-B connection. I’ve ordered a new Cable.
any ideas here? Should I just get a 3.0 hub so I don’t lose transfer speed?
Any help appreciated.

Beware that some USB 3 hubs generate RF interference in the 2.4GHz frequency.
