iPad 3:

Was able to do this when I first got the iPad but now cannot: when I try to move apps from one screen to the next it does not allow me. The apps simply snap back to where the originally were on the screen.

I can't find a setting that would prevent this. Have rebooted to no avail. Any help?

Hold the opposite side of the app while pushing it over. eg..If you want to move an app to a page on the left, hold the right side of the app as best you can. And once you get it to the edge of the screen, kinda hold it there. There is a slight delay sometimes before it switches pages. It can be a PIA sometimes, but once you get the feel of it you will have no problems.

Thanks, that worked. I've owned an iPad for 2 years so not sure why I suddenly had a problem with this.
