so I moved my Mac Mini the other day, and changed the batteries in the Trackpad. Ever since then, I can wake my Mac, even wake it by clicking the trackpad, but then it is several seconds(20 maybe) before I can move the curser or do anything. The screen comes up, but then it pauses for 20 seconds or so. It never used to take near this long. Did something get changed? How can I speed this up? Any ideas? Thanks

did you update to osx 10.8.5 or install/uninstall anything before hand.

I know that the latest update made my imac very slow to wake from sleep and the cursor and keyboard (wireless) take forever to get recognized

Sounds like a power management problem. Try a SMC reset. AFAIK, 10.8.5 has a changed power management behavior.

Try a SMC reset.

I've done that, and my late 2012 27" iMac is still slow to wake from sleep, including taking an even longer time for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to reconnect than it does for the desktop to reappear.

This problem for me seem to occur only after the Mac has been asleep for a longer period of time. If it's just a few minutes, I have no problems at all. Unfortunately, I can't say how long "a longer period of time" actually is.

Sounds like it could be Deep Sleep:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4929678?start=0&tstart=0

My MacBook Pro running Mtn Lion does this, even when connected to the charger. The visual indication is a grayed out screen with a multi-dot "progress" indicator at bottom during wakeup. However, after that goes away, the trackpad still won't respond for about another 10-15 secs or so. It's done this since at least OS version 10.8.4, if I don't have an HTTP server enabled. If the server is enabled, then that keeps it from sleeping at all (the screen will go black, but the server process, network, etc. remains active).

There is a command (pmset) that can change sleep parameters:
https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man1/pmset.1.html

I recommend reading the entire man page, then asking specific questions. It might also be informative if you use 'pmset' to find out what your system's current sleep parameters are.

I also suggest a controlled test to find out how long it must sleep in order for the apparent deep sleep to kick in. I suggest increasing one-hour intervals. Yes, this will be time-consuming. But if you want to find out if it's deep sleep kicking in at 4 hrs (or whatever), I recommend a controlled test.
