I've started using GameMaker, but when I try to run or debug a game, I keep getting the same error saying "Access to the path '*audio file*' is denied."
I've tried changing the permission settings to "Read & Write" several times, but it keeps reverting back to "Read only" whenever I try to run the game. It's only three files with this problem, as far as I can tell.
I'm using an M2 Pro, if that helps.

I'll offer a suggestion.
Just something worth trying.
It won't hurt anything.

You'll need an external USB drive (can be hard drive, SSD, flash drive, doesn't matter).

Locate the "three files" that are giving you permissions problems.

Copy the three files to the external USB drive, then, DO THIS:

a. click ONE TIME on the drive's desktop icon to select it
b. bring up the "get info" box for that icon (you can type "command-i")
c. at the bottom of get info, click the lock and enter your administrative password
d. put a checkmark into "ignore ownership on this volume" (sharing and permissions)
e. close the get info box.

NOW...
Copy those three files BACK TO your internal drive.
Will they work now?

WHY I asked you to do this:
When you do the "ignore ownership" trick above, then just about anything you copy from the external drive back to the internal will "fall under the ownership" of your account.

Disclaimer:
I don't know how this will work with game files, I don't own or play ANY computer games, not one at all.

Hope this helps...

Is this something I can do in Terminal or something...? Because this doesn't look like anything I can do on a Mac so far.

Yes, it's terminal work only. (I've never done this in a graphical environment)
All these (unix) commands works on mac, but there may be differences as well.
If you have questions, the command: "man" (manual) helps.

example:
Code:
% man man
For some reason I think it is necessary to get acquainted with the man command itself.

But in fact, where is the "audio file" actually located, the rights of which you want to change?

Oh yes, there is one more place on the Mac where you can modify it.

system settings > privacy & security > full disk access

That GameMaker should be added to the list, if it is not already there.

Have you contacted Gamemaker? It is possible that the app is causing the permissions problems.

Tried saving the game to a different folder, and that seemed to help. Wish I knew why.
But now I'm getting a black screen. I can hear the title screen music, but there's no picture.
