Cant open any old attachements in imessage

Just noticed an odd thing - I cant open any of the old pictures, videos, or contacts I have in the messages app. All I have are these placeholders - anyone had anything similar? 8.1.1 didn't help :(

Here's what shows when I try to open something. Haven't done any jailbreaks or messed with the system.
