iPhone Can't open WhatsApp location on Google Maps

When people share their location with me on WhatsApp I used to be able to open that location using Google Maps by clicking on it, going to the 'share' button (bottom left corner) and selecting 'Open in Google Maps' from the options in the menu. A few weeks ago the application does nothing when I choose that option.

I have verified all the settings related to location and permissions of the applications, uninstalling reinstalling both Google Maps and WhatsApp, hard resetting my iPhone and nothing seems to work.

Note: the option to open locations on Apple Maps works perfeclty.

I'm using Google Maps v5.24.9 and WhatsApp v2.19.80 on iOS 12.4.
