Sounds to me like you can make apps now, but you just need to wait until June to sell them?

So couldnt our nice community make SDK apps now and just put them on installer?

sounds pretty much right, can make them just nto put them up, he store wont be up for a while i guess. gg at apple taking 30% though heh:/ who wants to bet firmware 2 will destroy any sim unlock solution :D

Can pretty much guarantee that lol...

I have ATT so I wont care.

i was thinking the same thing, you should be able to develop software through the SDK and implement it through installer..i dont see why this cannot be done

But isnt SDK based upon the iPhone 2.0 firmware? If we don't have the firmware, how can we run the apps? Maybe I heard wrong.

Using the SDK to build an app and then putting it on Installer would almost guarantee you being banned from the official iTunes Application Store.

Which do you think developers will choose? The official interface that will reach millions of users in June, or the unofficial and soon to be made obsolete Installer route?

Common sense, folks.

But I do agree that the 2.0 firmware beta will leak.

im sure developers will make a watered down version which will be installer-friendly and have a full fledged version ready for itunes..apple wont ban developers for putting their apps on installer, that would just be bad for them as those very apps wont generate any profit for them if they arent allowed to be put in the itunes store..now thats common sense

as mentioned its based on teh 2.0 firmware, but no one knows yet if the $99 fee for listings include beta firmware or not(i personally dont think ti would. it will include framework for new thigns in 2.0, and tools, but NOT the firmware itself)

only time will tell, i guess. GIve it until tonight and well know more!

erm, i forgot, though, the sdk has been floating aroudn to a few selected peopel for months now, since 113, so who knows.. the framework was suppodly built into 113 so maybe well be lucky

The iPhone SDK lets you develop and use your current iPhone (1.1.4) to run and test the apps on.

The 2.0 release is going to have the App Store and all the Enterprise goodies..... but I think the main framework for the system will be unchanged.

Truse me.... the Jailbreak community is gonna be all over this SDK like files on Sheet.

Edit:

Here is a screen shot of a current iPhone being set up for development purposes.

hey hey, is that with the $99 listing fee to 'access pre-release iphone software'? it seems like it wants to install junk, ot tether your phone at least to allow testing on it :)

I was wondering the very same thing myself.. How long before a free AppStore is around for all the people with Jailbroken iPhones.... Mid June? Early July? ;-)

For $99 apple says you get "access to pre-release iPhone software".

yea, which _could_ also mean new tools adn so on that are needed for 2.0 features, framework and so on. iphone software could also apply to software, for the iphone not just the 'iPhone Software' as they call updates. just keeping my mind open until i hear back from em' on the program.
