iTunes just says "this iPod can't play video." Any idea why this might be? My only idea is that it needs a software update, could this be it?

And if it is, will the update be the same software used on the 6Gs (with the split-screen display, etc?)

Download the latest update in itunes and restore to factory settings. It will not update to the ipod classic firmware. It will only restore to the latest update for the ipod video.

Sorry for the late reply... The problem is still persisting though.

I haven't tried converting the videos or anything, but they were purchased from iTunes, so I assume they're in the right format.

iTunes just seems convinced that the iPod doesn't play video when it does...

I've even checked and the videos already on the iPod (that I put on years ago) are, as you'd expect, MPEG-4 video, and so are the videos that I'm trying to put on.

What could the problem be? :(
