I installed SheepShaver on my MacBook Pro today, and was playing with FreeHand a bit when I got all nostalgic over the early Mac rumors sites. They felt like local access TV, or something similarly unscripted,… all heart but no polish.

I am trying to recall another mac rumors site that surfaced and went away in the late 90's. It's not thinksecret or macintouch (still going!)… but had a Mac OS 9 desktop design, complete with windows and title bars like that of Mac OS 9.

Thanks, Weaselboy. I completely forgot about spymac! It had some good writing, too: http://web.archive.org/web/20050701014931/http://www.spymac.com/

Among the other interface elements borrowed from OS 9, the nav bar for the site I'm searching for looked like the OS 9 Finder menu. It had some irreverent writing, which is probably what drew me to it in the first place.

You're thinking of As The Apple Turns which used to be at appleturns.com. I miss them dearly.

You guys rock! The early Mac rumors sites were so innocent and adorable,… *nothing* was monetized, which made them feel like pirate radio (to me, anyway).

appleturns.com is the site I was scouring my brains for, thank you macbookguy. I visit macrumors.com daily, and I love that it keeps on keepin' on with relevant content, so thank you, too, maflynn. As far as I'm concerned, macrumors forums are the mac gospel.

Here's a wayback machine link to appleturns.com: https://web.archive.org/web/20090403192845/http://www.appleturns.com/

Thanks again!
