I am using an iMac Catalina desktop computer. I can longer receive replies to my sent emails. I have spoken to some of the recipients and been told they have replied. I have been in touch with Apple who can find no problem with the computer and I have been in touch with my service provider, Talktalk who, so far cannot help with the problem.
Can anyone please offer any help to resolve the problem please?
As I can't receive emails, I will log on from time to time to see if there are any answers.

Does TalkTalk have an option to view your emails via the web? If they do check there and all of the appropriate folders (bulk mail, junk mail, spam, etc.).

Hello both. Thanks for the replies.
HDF yes I have the option of Web mail run by Talktalk. but there are no replies to any of the emails I sent for which the recipients have now telephoned to say they have responded.
Brian yes it is hosted by Talktalk and I have both a Talktalk email address and a Onetel email address. Onetel is hosted by Talktalk as well. I can't recive answers to any of the Talktalk and Onetel emails I have sent.

I'd advise you to get a different email address. I'm not sure how it works with TalkTalk but if canceling your TalkTalk service means losing the email address…well…you see the problem there. Disregarding that, there are more reliable, free services.

There'd be two ways to go about it. Either way would mean letting folks know you have a new email address.

One method would be to set up forwarding at the TalkTalk webmail interface, if that's possible, to the new email address. That way, and the second way below, you won't miss anything during your transition period.

Another method would be to have your new email service check for email at the old service. Gmail can do this and other providers may be able to, also.

If you decide a new email address would be a good idea and need more help don't be afraid to ask here.

A dumb question, but...
...what happens when you send emails to YOURSELF...?

Do you rcv them?
If you "reply" to one, does it get "sent back to you"?

Whenever I've had email problems, this is one of the first things I do to diagnose send/rcv problems...

I would just use their website and their web mail app to take Apple Mail out of the equation. Sending an email to yourself is a good diagnostic tool. When you do that do you see the message in a "sent" mailbox?

Thanks Brian. I'll have a think about the implications and keep you posted.

Hello Fisherman. Emails to myself go but don't comeback to me but I have just noticed that after I have sent the message, a note at the bottom of the folders bar on the left, flashes "downloading messages' ut nothing appears. I suppose that means it has gone through the server and come back but something is stopping it downloading.
I did wonder yesterday whether my firewall was blocking them but there were no entries to block anything

Next suggestion:

Temporarily use Thunderbird (free).
Try to set up an email account with it.
Again, send test messages to yourself.
Does that change anything?

Hello both. I have been informed that Talktalk have escalated my problem and it would appear there is a problem at the server which they are now working on so I will sit tight for a day or two and see what happens. I'll post again when I get a result. Thanks for you posts.
