Hi all

I'm having trouble when trying to rename a folder, I get the error code -8076.
What could be the issue?

Many thanks
James

Have you tried shutting down (all the way off), and then rebooting?
And then attempting the delete?

The software that is offered at that site is not the "Mac Error Code 8076" fixer that it appears to be.
It gives a link to the FreshMac utility, which is an unknown bit of code, I think.
First clue, I think, is the pretty obvious fake replies on that web page.
Also, note the interesting "disclaimer" near the middle of that page
Disclaimer: FixError.com is an authorized distributor of MacBooster. Support can also be provided by the manufacturer. Full repairs start at $39.97.
That MAY be what will "Fix" your system - or maybe it will just "Fix" your system by dropping in some unknown malware.
(Or, fixing will simply cost you at least $40
Just my opinion - stay far away from this ****.

Hmmm....
How about this instead of "renaming"...

1. Create a NEW folder with the NEW name.
2. Move stuff from the older folder into the new one.
3. DELETE the old (now empty) folder.

Thanks everyone, but yeah this is what I did in the end as it wasn't playing ball. Finder is really screwing up for me atm. I can't 'export as PDF' from safari into finder currently, as well! Safari just either 1) doesn't save it or, 2) gives me the beach ball and I have to force quit!!
