So here is the irony. My third replacement iPhone 3G proximity sensor is shot. This means the screen does not turn off when against the ear, just stays on for about 3 min, turns off then turn back on when it feels like.

Anyway, I am heading over to Serbia and Montenegro for a vacation in May but I need it to stay with baseband 2.28.00 so I can use yellowsn0w. It would be rather wacky to get the phone replaced and refuse to take the new phone on stock 2.2.1 Now I have to wait till early July unless anyone has any other ideas?

Hmm, thats pretty tough. But my dad just bought my mom a 3G for Valentines day and it came with 2.2 installed. I'm pretty sure that a good amount of them are still on 2.2, so you can give it a shot.
