Can't restore from iPhone. iPhone asking for random Apple IDs.

This is so weird! I'm having issues transferring from iPhone to iPhone.

I'm transferring from an iPhone 14 PM with iOS 17 to an iPhone 15 PM with iOS 17.

It seems to go well, but then when it tells me to log in it starts to ask for a password for so many random Apple IDs. I click skip and it shows me so many random emails.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm ok with starting fresh, but how can I get my messages? Is there a way to save my messages with iCloud?
 
Did you update to iOS 17.0.2? Everyone recommends doing that because there are issues with the release version of iOS 17 on the iPhone 15-series of phones as it relates to data transfer.
 
I had also read that and updated my iPhone 14 PM to 17.0.1 and the 15 PM to 17.0.2.

I'm now going to try to save a back up on the computer, but I don't have enough storage on the computer!! :( Sheesh. haha

I had the same issue!!!! I typically like to backup to my computer first and doing the restore process the old school way.

My macbook is pretty low storage (512GB) and I have a ton of old photos, so it wouldnt back up cause not enough storage. Ok fine, I was willing to do phone to phone.

ALL OF A SUDDEN ITS SAYING THERES DATA FROM RANDOM STRANGE ICLOUD ACCOUNTS ON MY OLD PHONE ????

I tried skipping all of them. At a certain point it stopped allowing me to skip and just stayed on that page.

I am now trying to back up to my girlfriends brand new macbook (so most storage available). Im about half hour deep. I have a good amount of data, but even this simple back up is taking excessively long.

What in the actual F is going on? Im praying this backup goes fine and then the restore is fine. Im gonna refrain from syncing my music library or any old photo folders till these storage and sync issues are smoothed

yes you can back up your messages to icloud. just turn the option on in settings. For me I need all my data especially photos transferred over so this is very frustating

Oh wow! I thought it was just me. I have a Mac Mini and it only has 512gb. Doesn't have enough space to save all my videos. :( I'll turn on iCloud for the messages. I'm fine with starting from scratch, but I do want all my messages. I wonder if I should just try it at the Apple Store.

try what, backing it up and restoring? if you just want your messages backed up mostly, icloud works fine for that. I dont think you need to go to an apple store just for that.

are you basically getting rid of all the photos in your camera roll when you say "starting from scratch"? you dont want to save anything?

My backup file is also 218GB. I'm not sure how thats even remotely possible. Something really strange is going on with storage with this new ios
 
I was saving everything to iCloud except the messages. So I guess I could just store all that on iCloud and start with everything else fresh. haha

Yeah it seems all you need to do is check off the box for saving messages to icloud, which should trigger them getting backed up into icloud along with everything else you got there. Then you can just do a icloud restore
 
What's the status of your problem? haha.
Did you fix it? My messages are still syncing with iCloud and they're downloading on the new iPhone.
