cant restore jailbroken iphone

i jailbroke my iphone 2.2.1 and i tried to restore it and it starts fine and shows the apple but when it gets about half way the phone reboots with the pineapple logo and some guy with his hands in the air saying something shows up on the screen and the iphone freezes with that screen and itunes freezes with the verifying software screen what can i do to fix this? has this happend to anyone

That "guy with his hands in the air" is Steve Jobs and that is the restore mode. You should try to restore by...

1) Turn off the phone
2) hold the home button while plugging the phone into iTunes
3) Preform a restore
 
same thing happens

i tried that and same thing happens steve jobs comes up and i tunes stops responding with the screen that says verifying iphone software has anyone had this problem and i really need help dont know what to do only had this phone for a month

i have the same issue, i have tried holding the home button whilst plugging in my iphone to itunes several times and get the same result. please help, my mrs is going to kill me!!!

i dont know what DFU mode is and when i turn the iphone on i dont get a chance to do anything. the pineapple comes up Steve Jobs and thats it.
 
ok plug the phone to the computer and make sure itunes is running....then turn off your phone....once its off hole the power and home buttons for 12 seconds then release the power button but keep holding the home button till itunes recognizes it then attempt to restore again
 
thanks i have done that my pc says that new software is installed and ready to use. what do i do now as nothing has happened?
 
hold shift and click on restore if you are using a downloaded firmware or just click restore to newest firmware





update: do a hard reset by holding both power and home till phone reboots
 
there isnt an option for me to click restore the same thing just keeps happening pineapple and then steve, really sorry to be a pain!
 
i dont get an option to upgrade. when i held the home button and the power button a bubble came up on my pc stating that new software was installed and ready to use, that closed then nothing happend anywhere, i still have itunes running the iphone is connected to it and nothing, im growing increasing concerned that the iphone in wrecked.
 
try it again... turn off the phone but keep it plugged in to the computer...... hold power and home button down for 10 seconds then release power and keep holding home until itunes detects the phone (the screen of the phone should be black if done correctly)
 
my pc detects something as it makes the sound but nothing else happens neither itunes or my pc show the iphone as detected or usable
 
i have reset my pc and carried out the below instructions but im getting the same reult. i wish i had not jailbroken the thing now...i dont even use any of the available apps!!!
 
what about re installing itunes i have been having issues with it for ages, im still getting no where
