Hi,

Yesterday my ATV2 started showing blank screen (while constantly trying to choose either 720p or 480p), with it's LED blinking rapidly. I've found the info about how to restore / reset it with the remote or in iTunes. Nothing works.

Today if I connect ATV2 to my TV, it shows the iTunes logo and usb cable.

ATV shows in iTunes (via micro usb), I can start the restore procedure, but at the point of 'Verifying Apple TV restore with Apple' restore drops with the error message 'The Apple TV could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9)'.

ATV has not been jailbroken. Latest update installed.

Is there something I'm missing?

Thank you!

Try restarting the computer that has iTunes on it. If that doesn't work, try redownloading the latest IPSW for the Apple TV. Have you also tried another computer?

Hi!

Yes, I've already done all of it: tried 2 Macs, restarted both of them, downloaded the latest IPSW...

It seems I have to get my ATV into the pwned DFU, but I don't know how...

I believe that once you get it into DFU mode, I forget how, redsn0w will be able to put it into a pwned DFU mode for restoration.

I've just tried it a couple of times, but I can't put it into this mode... It seemed to be designed for iPhones etc., things having the Home button...

Make sure the computer your trying the restore on has a working internet connection.

I'm also having problems restoring my Appletv 2 in iTunes. On my Macbook Pro 13" and Mac Mini (Late 2011) I'm getting an error 9 but I've also used the PC version of iTunes via VMWare where I'm mostly getting error 1604 errors.

I say mostly, because I've had various error results depending on whether I try powering the APTV, using a powered USB hub or just the regular micro USB on it's own.

I've also tried a many jailbreak procedures to try and bring my APTV back to life.

No luck and very frustrating.

My unit is about 18months old. I'm far away from an Apple reseller but I guess I'll take it back and see if they have any ideas.
Unless anyone out there has any new ones. I seem to have tried everything.

I'm having issues to. Figured that it might be because I had my atv set to US but my iTunes account is actually uk. Seems like its working.
