Cant Save Picture attachments in received emails?

I have my Gmail set up on the Iphone but I cant save a picture that was sent to me?

Sorry no save feature on the iPhone... I know, I know, lets hope they update that. I was talking to a guy that works for Apple and I asked about this. He said he only sees it happening if they can section it off from the OSX section so people can't tinker around with OSX.

My thought is wouldn't this be easy to do?
Can't they just create a image that mounts that can increase and decrease in size, kind of like how Virtual Machine disks do?

I understand the hesitancy to allow access to the OS, I have a windows mobile 5 phone that I used prior to this and it could easily be completely screwed up if something was done wrong.

BUT some of these features are things we all need and want. I mean just save it to my photos somehow, I dont need to choose WHERE it goes to.

Can't save images from MAIL ?

i waas frustated today, when a girl i met have an iphone to and she sent me a picture of her the moment we were talking on the phone, i go really happy to my check email on iphone, there it is, i open it, have 2 pictures, i decide to use this picture on her contact name on my list, and then i realize i cant SAVE ! why !?!??!?!?! cant believe u can receive images on iphone via email and cant save or use them as wallpaper or in contacts..
